What is Buccal Fat Pad Removal?

Surgery done to thin and sculpt the face. Also referred to cheek reduction surgery.

It is indicated when there is fullness in the cheek contributing to a round looking face. This may lead to you looking overweight. Surgery is done to removal excess fat and reduce the size of your cheeks to enhance the facial profile and facial features.

What it cannot do

Slim the whole face, mainly the lower aspect.

Will I need general anaesthetic?

No the procedure is done under local anaesthetic or with sedation. If combined with other procedures such as facelifting and liposuction. The operation is all done from within the mouth so no external scars and dissolvable stitches are placed.

Post procedure

Soft diet and analgesia for 5 days.

Results

Results are not immediate due to swelling and will be visible after a few weeks.

Risks

There are very rare risks of mild facial nerve weakness and damage to salivary ducts in the mouth.
